All work and no play makes me a rather cranky girl and lately I have been feeling a little cranky, not to mention uninspired- not so good for someone who relies on inspiration to create new jewelry. Clearly I needed a break and what better cure is there than to go on a 2 day concert extravaganza? Now I am feeling renewed and more inspired than ever- thanks Bret Michaels! 😉
Here’s how a 1-night concert turned into an unexpected all nighter and fun-filled 2-day adventure.
As we do every time Bret Michaels comes to CT (or any of the surrounding states), my sister and I hit the road to go to the show. We got all dressed up and headed out to Stamford, CT. My sister and I were both rocking Naked Sandals of course- All Eyes on You for Kara and Chainmaille for me.
Bret and the band put on one helluva show and we had a blast!
♪Don’t need nothin’ but a good time… How can I resist… Ain’t looking for nothin’ but a good time… And it don’t get better than this…♪
After the show, we did a meet and greet with Bret. Yes, we’ve met him probably 20 or 30 times over the years but it’s never enough! 😉
If you are wondering, yes, that is a real tattoo.
My sister and I have driven and flown just about everywhere to see Posion and the Bret Michaels band. One of our roadtrips was to Maryland for my birthday. Bret signed my sister’s forearm after the show, so she turned it into a tattoo. I chose autographed pictures and cell phone cases, but will admit I am a little envious of the tattoo. 😉
While we were on the tour bus, Bret encouraged us to go see him and the band in NYC the following morning for a live event he was doing on Fox and Friends to pay tribute to men and women of the military and the 9/11 first responders.
It took us about a half a second to decide YES! If Bret Michaels asks you to go to a concert the next morning, I think the only possible answer is HELL YES!
So we made a few phone calls, arranged for baby sitters for my niece and puppy sitters for Chewbacca and Kenobi (thanks Kati!) and hit the road for a random road trip to NYC.
A couple hours later, and we were enjoying a not-so-tasty dinner/breakfast (what do you call a meal you are eating at 2:30am?) at a NYC diner and getting ready for the 7am concert.
The lines formed super early for the Fox and Friends concert (sometime before 5am). It was a long wait before we were able to rush the stage but so much fun! We got to enjoy a concert before the concert while the band rehearsed. I got to hear many of my favorite songs again and again between the Thursday night concert, the early morning rehearsal and the live concert event Friday morning.
Bret and the band put on one helluva show yet again!
Then Bret was gracious enough to hang around and sign autographs, even though he must have been exhausted after pulling an all nighter. People handed him all sorts of strange things to sign- from posters, to bras, to metro cards, and my favorite was an umbrella. I guess the umbrella person really didn’t have anything else for him to sign. 😉
My sister and I had an amazing time! When the concert was over, we grabbed a quick bite to eat, I got a quad espresso, and we hit the road for the long drive home. Then we had fun checking out YouTube videos and trying to find ourselves on Fox and Friends.
It was such a fun unexpected adventure and exactly what I needed! Now I am back to designing jewelry around the clock and am filled with inspiration… and counting down the months until I get to do it all over again!
I’d love to hear from you.
What do you do for inspiration or to take a break?
